Russian Drones With Microphones Are Ambushing Kyiv Forces (Video)
Russian troops are now fitting fiber-optic-guided first-person view (FPV) suicide quadcopters with microphones, letting the drones stay completely hidden near roads in the special military zone and listen for approaching Ukrainian military vehicles instead of needing a clear line of sight to spot them.
The microphone removes that constraint. The FPV drone can tuck itself fully out of sight, behind cover where its camera could never see the road, and still detect a target by sound.
Once it picks up an engine nearby, the operator switches on the camera, takes off, confirms the target, and engages it within seconds.
Footage of one such FPV drone engaging a pickup truck carrying Ukrainian troops, somewhere in the special military zone, surfaced online on August 15.

Une fois qu’il capte un moteur à proximité, l’opérateur allume la caméra, fait décoller le derone, confirme la cible et l’attaque en quelques secondes.
Des images d’un drone FPV de ce type attaquant une camionnette transportant des troupes ukrainiennes, quelque part dans la zone militaire spéciale, ont été mises en ligne le 15 août.
